Premiere performance of Peter Child’s Occasions

With Daniel Stepner, violin, and Marcus Thompson, viola

February 20, 2020 at 7:00-9:00pm  |  941 Centre Street, Newton, MA 02459 -

Peter Child writes: Occasions is a set of movements composed over a period of 3 years in honor of musician friends and colleagues: Musical birthday cards (Young-Nam Kim, Marcus Thompson, John Harbison), a 'get well' card (John and Rose Marie Harbison), and a memorial elegy for Gunther Schuller. A handful of great pieces by Mozart and others have shown how rich in potential the violin-viola duo is, and it was my plan from the start to collect enough ‘occasional’ pieces to constitute a suite. This will be the premiere performance of the collection as a whole. More information and tickets.
